In 2014 Bente Westerhuis graduated from ABK Minerva and that year she was the winner of the encouragement award for design.
 
The almost lethargic anti-hero and everyday pursuits are central subjects in the animations of Bente Westerhuis. The banal simplicity in her animations is so universal that this begins to become recognizable and accessible.

From one daily bother to another. Bente isn’t looking for a certain meaning or message within this, but works from a love of meaninglessness. The black and white pixel animations express the monotonous, repetitive movements and the characterlessness of the main character. The boredom: drinking coffee, zapping, waiting; the one repetition after the other…
