The video is based on reflections accompanying artist residencies on the Greek island of Lefkada and the Portuguese Azores. The project uses virtual landscapes from computer games and digital distortions that often accompany games. Fascinated by modern information technologies and their incredible potential to shape lifestyles, I seek to answer the question of how to authentically capture the rich duality of physical and virtual life that we currently experience. Inspired by virtual landscapes, I present how we strive to achieve a state of inner balance in an age of information overload.
Despite technological advances, virtualization and, digitalization of reality, we are still looking for rituals and spiritual practices that will allow us to reach a state of deep awareness or at least simulate it. In the video, I also use a text I wrote based on meditations popular on the YouTube channel, listening to which helps to calm down, relax and achieve the desired results in various aspects of life. By using the alphabet of contemporaneity and looking at one of the most classic themes – a landscape, I attempt to present the very common in the digital age craving for relaxation in an idyllic environment.
Visual artist Ewa Doroszenko (1983) applies digital manipulation to photography, painting, sound objects and, installations. Her recent work focuses on the meaning of the image in technological reality.
